New Apple IOS App Developer Account 30 Day Run Down

Howdy All,

So I wanted to share some of the things that I have been working on over the last few months. The numbers are going up which is a great sign, and this is after a month of delays and marketing mistakes. So this is a great indicator or things to come on this developer account.

App Portfolio

I have been working on App Portfolios and building and creating app portfolios to sell as businesses and this is working really well. As a result this, is now a core part to the Tigga Studios business model and one of the things that I teach students as well.

So here is a new Apple Developer Account that I have been publishing apps to over the last 60 days and when this image was taken there was 50 apps published. The objective is to get 150 apps published into this account and then this account will be sold.

The interesting thing is that these apps have only been published over the 27 days of feb, so these apps have only been published over 30 days but we have been working on them over 60 days. Here is a link to the account if you want to check it out for yourself. http://ax.search.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZSearch.woa/wa/search?entity=software&media=all&page=1&restrict=true&startIndex=0&term=benvsweb

So what this really shows is that starting from 0 that we have hit the ground running with this app portfolio and this is just organic app marketing, nothing else. These apps have only been published to the App store and no other marketing has occurred yet. But as a result we are getting downloads that are increasing every day.

The first 30 days of these apps we actually had a bug in our admob advertising and tracking so we were not getting paid from the ads that were getting displayed. I have also learned a lot about the app marketing and ways to generate revenues so all of these apps are getting updated with IAP, Localizations and much more that will help with the revenues.

App Trends

What I have noticed is that in the early days it is the countries that are outside of the USA that are actually downloading the apps as you can see here from this data. So it is very very important to ensure that you create localizations of your apps to help increase those downloads and increase revenues. So right now we are working on getting all of our apps translated into six languages to start with.

So this demonstrates that we are doing what are teaching and that this is a great indicator of signs to come. If this is the downloads that we are getting in this account with no marketing, no promotions in the first 30 days imagine what the downloads will be when there are 6 languages, and marketing an promotions are setup…. but what is even better is that the revenues are increasing each day as well.

For those of you that are looking for a turn key solution this account will be sold off later this year if you are interested in purchasing a business that has a complete, working Apple Developer account. There will also be a Android plus Amazon account that matches this app portfolio offered with this developer account so it will be a complete turn key business that is making money,

This is great signs of what is happening in the market and that we do what we teach. I will share more about this portfolio over the next few months. Right now is one of many developer accounts we are working on, so we are always testing ideas and concepts.

I am excited and there is plenty more to come in the app world.

Ben

To make your app a success, you must first make it seen!

In just over four years the word ‘app’ has gone from being pretty much meaningless to be a household name. Indeed, with millions of mobile applications available for not just the iPhone but also Android, Symbian, and other handsets, there is no question that the mobile revolution is in full swing. And because we have nearly 4 billion people worldwide accessing the Internet remotely every single day, the market for mobile advertising is very real. If so far you have overlooked this revolution, fear not, it is not too late to get a piece of mobile revolution pie. But just in case you are not sold yet, consider the following benefits to mobile advertising:

You can reach a worldwide audience of four billion people and target based on region

You can connect with consumers by using devises they already own

You can extend your brand awareness into the mobile medium

Now that you should be chomping at the bit to get involved, it is important that before you start mobile advertising you need to consider a few things. Here are six helpful tips to take into consideration before you start you campaign.

What is your App target audience?

You know the type of person you want to reach, now consider their demographic and geographic features. By taking into consideration such things as geographic region, age, gender, wealth, etcetera you will be able to better target content to potential customers.

Is your App campaign engaging?

You want to make sure that you banner campaign is engaging and that your mobile site is conversational. Remember, mobile users are immune to most techniques trying to gain their attention. Consider using a mobile advertising agency to help make sure you audience sees your campaign.

Where do you want to advertise your App?

You want to make sure that you advertisement is compatible with the devises the users you trying reach are already using. This means iPhones, Blackberries, Android and any other handset.

How much are you willing to spend advertising your app?

You can pay as little as fifty dollars to fifty thousand dollars on an online campaign. Decide how much you want to spend and then figure out how to best implement your plan.

How long are you looking to advertise for?

It is very important that you come up with a schedule for your mobile advertising campaign. Again, consider using an agency to help you come up with the best distribution and length of time that your campaign should run. Much like all other media, mobile advertising have peak usage time.

Do not forget to promote your app campaign!

There is nothing wrong with using other media to promote your advertising campaign. Consider using social networks and other PR channels to increase attention. You can never have too much advertising.

Mobile advertising can be incredibly lucrative for your company. Indeed, some companies have seen 600% increases in their market share after starting a mobile marketing campaign.

For this reason, consider making room in your app budget this year to spend on mobile advertising, it is definitely an investment worth your time and money.

The book How to Make Millions with Apps will share with you the secrets of how you can create apps with no programming, coding, or design experience. I’ll even share with you the little-known secret of how you can create apps for free. This and so much more.

I’ve even included over $128 worth of free bonuses and resources that include my app creation blueprint. This is what I use and it’s what I’ve built my entire app business on. And I’ll share with you a little secret – I’ve got over 150 apps in my app portfolio and it’s growing on multiple platforms every single month. And all this with no programming, coding or design experience.

And you might be thinking, “Hey, I’ve got a really limited budget.” I can share with you how to capitalize on your limited budget and publish an app that makes money. So if you really want to know these secrets, How to Make Millions with Apps is the book that’s going to expose all these secrets and make it so simple for you to succeed at creating an app.

~*~

Six ways to make your app a winner

Here’s some little secrets and tips you need to be aware of to make your app work. So you’re either at the stage where you’ve got an idea or you’ve just published an app, and you’re looking out there going, “Okay, how can I get downloads? How can I make sure I get a return on all the time and money I’ve spent creating an app?” So here’s six simple ways. They sound simple, they may be simple, but I tell you what, a lot of people forget these fundamental basics.

Just because there’s 4 billion people a day accessing mobile devices, doesn’t mean they’re going to know about your app, doesn’t mean they’re going to find out about your app. You’ve now got to take the time and the energy to make sure they can even find your app. Make it as easy as possible for people to actually download your app. So here’s some things to be aware of – here’s six points. And if I’m looking down it’s because I’m looking at my iPad and it’s got all my notes on it – that’s how cool an iPad is.

Number 1: What is your app target audience? This is one big thing that people forget. Who do you want to download your app? Not everyone is going to be interested in your app. If you’ve created a game, what similar games have they played that they would like your style or type of app? Is it a strategy game? If I’ve played other strategy games, would I want to download and play this game? Or do people who play this type of strategy game like this type of utility? There’s a lot of demographics information you can find out about what different game players like or what other similar types of apps they may have on their device.

When I was running my marketing companies, we always used to create an avatar of our ideal users. We would create a personality, a profile, of what type of apps they liked, what magazines they read, where did they go on Facebook, if they even used Facebook, what websites did they use, did they use LinkedIn, what did they browse for online, what movies did they watch, what clothes did they wear?

You might be going, “What the hell does all this have to do with my target market?” Well, what it does is it helps you think about what other ways you can engage with your target market and your audience because that’s important. If you know your app user is out on Facebook and they’ve liked Tony Hawke, for example – that’s a skateboarder if you don’t know who that is – then that’s going to help you reach them and get your message to that audience.

Or if they follow a particular type of political view or a certain type of humor. You might find that people who like a certain type of comedy movies love downloading your apps and love engaging and playing with your apps or using your utilities – then market to them. You need to really be aware of demographic information.

You might be saying, “Hey, look Ben, I’ve got no idea where to start.” Sometimes just by testing and making some of this stuff up. So I think if they like horror movies they may like my zombie game. Well, let’s test it, let’s find out. If they like romantic comedies, do they like your zombie game? Let’s find out. Start working out what they do.

You might even think you’ve created a utility. For example, this person has just downloaded a new phone and their looking for – let’s use a flashlight app as an example of a utility. They’ve just downloaded their phone, so you might want to target people who have just recently acquired a mobile device in the last three months because they’re looking at downloading new apps and they’re more addicted to downloading more apps.

You might want to target to people, do key word research, or show up on websites outside of the app ecosystems that are talking about great tools for app users, great utility apps, the six best utility apps when travelling or for business travelers. It might have the flashlight or you might be talking about a camera app. You might even market to people who are looking at camera utilities or camera apps or camera resources – “Free app to download and try.” There’s multiple ways where you can pull things in. The more you know about this audience and this target market the better it’s going to be, and to be honest, the easier it’s going to be for you to target.

They say 80% of advertising is wasted and what you want to work out is what part of that 80%. If it’s not worth marketing to people under 18, why are you marketing and promoting to people under 18? Why are you putting your content on those websites? That’s something you want to look at.

Number 2: Is your app campaign engaging? App campaigns can be completely multimedia, multidimensional. Create video, create engaging images and pictures, use music, use sound effects, create the emotion. Now if you don’t have the budget to create a promotional video? That’s not true: you do. You can create great promotional videos just by using words in Keynote or PowerPoint or great images with some good music. It’s very easy.

You create a story, you create something emotional. You can use simple, free services online like Animoto.com – it’s a great photo creating tool that combines and creates promo videos. You could outsource it and say, “I’ve got $75.00 or $150.00 to create a promotional video for my app.” Download it, create an engaging campaign, you have to get people’s interest. Remember, you’re one of 1,000 ads or enticements they’re going to see during the day. What’s making yours memorable? How are you making it easy for them to download?

Number 3: Where do you want to advertise your app? Number three really ties in to number one because if you know who you’re audience are, and even if you’re making some of this up until you can test it and get some data from your analytics that you’re using in your apps to refine it, see who’s actually downloading and using and how long they’re using. Once you know who they are you know where to market.

You can target forums, news websites, you can target Facebook or LinkedIn or the different websites and social media websites in different countries. Are you targeting a Brazilian or Spanish or European marketplace? Or are you targeting a specific language only? Or a specific age group? Older men like this app, or older middle-aged women, or you want to target young kids and what age demographics and you can work out where to promote.

And one of the things you really want to think about is cross-promotion. Where are these people already now? So if I’m aged 21 and I love horror movies, for example, where am I going online, what magazines am I reading, what news posts, am I even reading the news? You’re great theme and seasonal period where you’d get in is when a new zombie movie comes out. So how could you tie your app and promotional marketing campaign into other things that are already getting media attention? For example, the Twilight movie release or nowadays The Hunger Games is coming out, how could you tie your app, your utility, whatever you’re creating into that media attention that’s already there, those people that are already searching? That’s what you really want to start thinking about: Where are the people I’m already targeting?

Number 4: How much are you willing to spend on your advertising? This is a good question because one of things you’ve really got to be aware of is if you have a low budget you need to do a lot of these things for free. So I’d recommend doing things like review article submissions or creating articles like the top five promotional apps for business, the top five apps for business travelers, or the top five apps for people gaming, or putting your key words into that, making sure you app gets submitted to review websites, creating promotional videos, getting video feedback and testimonial videos of people using your app and rating your app, and saying, “Yeah, I love to do this.” And you can use that on social media. You can do a lot of things for free.

If you can spend say $2,000 on an advertising campaign you can start looking at maybe doing paid banner promotions, or you want to do a Facebook like campaign. One of the things you can work out is for every dollar I spend, how many downloads do I get? And if you’re really doing the maths you can work out for every download I get, how many sales do I get? And this is what matters.

One of things you’ve got to work out is what is your cost to acquire a customer? What can you spend to actually acquire a customer and make it profitable because you actually want to make this advertising dollar a loss leader. So you can work out, say, for every $2,000 I’m spending I’m making $2,500 or $10,000 – this is what you want to work out, and if you can work that out you can just keep spending money after money.

It’s not how much you want to spend on it, it’s what can you spend to acquire a customer, that’s the most important metric. And once you know that you can find hundreds of ways to spend that money. One of the other things I didn’t mention previously is that with your new website, create a website you can build links to because people still search online, they’re searching from their mobile devices for XYZ app. So think about how would I be searching for that style of app?

Number six: Do not forget to promote your app campaign. So there’s already an existing stream of media and promotional campaigns that are already happening. How can you tie that in to those existing news and media campaigns? You’re starting to see nowadays on morning TV, news shows, radio shows, or DJ shows they’re interviewing app publishers. They’re talking about apps they’re playing right now on their mobile devices.

What can you tie your app into to get media attention? Sometimes just promoting a press release online is enough to get that attention. Sometimes you actually need to create a press release that goes online and offline. Or sometimes you want to maybe contact some magazines and see if you could get featured or if they could write a story on you. It’s all
possible and sometimes all you’ve got to do is ask.

A lot of people aren’t taking the time to actually think about marketing and promoting their app and who’s interested, but more importantly, making your app promotion interesting. How could you run a competition or a giveaway, or create t-shirts or stickers, or anything like that to help engage an audience and take them from this virtual world to the real world where you can put something in their hands. Competitions, giveaways, and prizes are wonderful for this, and there’s a lot of companies, services, and products out there already that you can tie your app into. A lot of big name brand companies are looking for apps and things they can use in promotional giveaways and prizes. Use them. There’s also other apps you can cross-promote with. So when you start really working out who your audience is, you’ll find that it actually gets easier to promote and market your app.

There’s six ways that you can ensure that your app is a winner, and I’m pretty certain that if you actually think of these six ways to make your app a winner during the publishing and while you’re creating your app, you’ll actually make your app even better for the people you’re actually targeting. So that’s the six ways. Put your comments below, give us your feedback, and let’s create a discussion in helping people think of other ways that they can promote and market their apps. This is Ben from HowToMakeMillionWithApps.com and I look forward to seeing you on one of my other blogposts.

Secrets to Getting App Reviews

How to Increase your Downloads with App Reviews

Even if you have designed the best iOS app in the world, if no one has heard of it no one is going to download it. For this reason, promoting your application is equally as important to designing it. And indeed, one of the most effective ways to promote your application is by securing online lots of App Reviews

App Reviews are a great strategy to get targeted people to your app… people are searching online for apps to play or use already. So one of the things that you should do with your app is create a keyword list to optimize your app reviews for. This would also apply to your app’s website as well. Think about creating articles around your keyword groups for example top “5 Your keyword apps”. There are many marketing strategies that can be applied to app reviews but here are some to get you started and thinking.

Outlined below are five tips to improving the chances that your app gets reviewed.

Don’t Leave App Reviewers With Any Questions

No matter how good your app sounds, a reviewer is not going to go scour the App Store and try to find it. They are busy people and you need to make it easy for them or they are going to move on to the next email with the next app. For this reason, every email, video, and website should clearly include your contact information, you company name, and a easy to use link to the application store page. This may seem basic, but you would be surprised at how many inquires simply lack this basic information.

Start with the Description in your App Reviews

You letter should begin with a flawless written and precise description of what exactly it is your application does. That is, be sure to tell them what type of application genre it belongs to. Is it a game? Productivity Related? Dating? Do not make them have to guess at what they are getting into. Be sure also to note what makes your application different and unique from you competition. Always be clear and concise and stay away from all fluff information that has nothing to do with you app.

Don’t Make Them Pay – Provide App Reviewers with a coupon

If you want someone to review you application you simply cannot request that they pay for it. For this reason, reviewers want to have a promotion code that gives them free access to download your application. Do not wait for them to ask for it as, once again, these are busy people. It is true that you do not have an unlimited number of promotional downloads and this may mean you have to target those reviewers most likely to look at your app. But remember, it is better to get a few review mentions than none at all.

Include a Video with your App Reviews

Consider including a quality and professional video of your application in action. Indeed, this can be one of you best selling tools when trying to get a review of you application. This is because it immediately allows the reviewer to understand the graphics, sounds, and overall function of your app within just a few seconds. Be sure to keep the video short, no more than two minutes, you don’t want to bore reviewers and if you don’t catch them immediately you probably aren’t going to anyways.

Make Sure Your App is Ready – Bug Free

Above everything else though, make sure that you application is complete, fully polished, and running without bugs. Again, this may seem like common sense, but you would be amazed at how many people submit application for review that are partially done and full of bugs. Consider this: if you aren’t willing to take the time to provide a reviewer with a quality application, why should they take the time provide you with feedback?

If you keep these five simple tips in mind you and your application will be well on your way to achieving Apple Store success.

And all this with no programming, coding or design experience.

So if you really want to know these secrets, How to Make Millions with Apps is the book that’s going to expose all these secrets and make it so simple for you to succeed at creating an app.

~*~

Five ways to get app reviews

Let’s explain app reviews to begin with. One of the big things that’s happening right now is because apps are so popular, and one of the challenges also with that is there are so many apps and so many different app categories and so many different app stores nowadays that people are finding it tough to find the apps they want, so app reviews started happening. It’s a way for people to rate and review apps. We all want to download the apps that everyone else is downloading, or XYZ said this was a good app so it must be a good app. It doesn’t really mean much, but it’s social proof and social influence is all about this app influence.

So app reviews sites started popping up as great ways to get traffic, and having an app review site is also a great way to possibly make some money. App reviews are happening on websites in themselves, they’re also happening in magazines, they’re happening in forums, they’re happening in a lot of places, and you need to start thinking broader. If you create a product or a resource nowadays you create a press and media kit, and this is really what you’re doing when you create an app review or an app review media kit is really what you want to call it.

What you want to do is make it as simple as possible for the person reviewing your app to review it. Bear in mind, they could get hundreds of submissions a day. If you go to some of these top app review websites, they might be getting thousands of apps submitted to them a day. How do get your app reviews? How do you make it easy for them to review your app so they don’t have to work? Like anything, if someone’s provided them with all the resources, the videos, the links to what people are saying, articles, descriptions, keywords, and images even that they could use, well, I’m more likely to review you. If you’ve made it really interesting and make it sound interesting for them, of course you’re going to get reviewed. And, obviously because of the backlog with this type of stuff, you submit it to a website today doesn’t mean it’s going to get reviewed that day or that week even, it might be a month or two just because of the sheer volume of backlog they have.

A lot of these websites offer a premium review service, so they will review your app for a small fee. If that website is getting tens of thousands of people going to it a month, it might be worth you paying a few dollars for you to get it reviewed. Think of it as a press release – it’s going to help you short-term and long-term.

Tips on Getting App Reviews

So here’s a few tips for getting your app reviewed and getting your app reviewed successfully. Tip number 1: Don’t leave reviewers with any questions. You want to make sure you make it really simple. Have all the information there. If they have to chase you up and ask questions, or actually play with the app or download it themselves to work things out, you’re making it tough. Make it fun, make it engaging, give me a few contexts or scenarios. Picture me using the app. You want to have them picture themselves or people they know using the app. Why would they use it? How would they use it? What will they do? What will they achieve? What’s the big admission or the purpose?

Provide them with some information, but be clear and concise. App reviews are not War and Peace – it’s 500 words or less, 1,000 words maximum if you’ve got different bullet points and categories. Create bullet points, create headlines, create a few descriptions. Make it sound fun and engaging, but don’t make me read it and go, “What the hell is this app?”

Number 2: Start with the description in your app reviews. Create a small description. Is it a game? Is it productivity related? Is it dating related? Who does this apply to? Who is going to be reading your app? Remember, what’s in it for me? We’re always going what’s in it for me. Who does this apply? Who’s going to be interested in reading? Different review sites cater to different traffic so that’s one of the other things to be aware of. Who’s actually going to be on their website? Is it actually relevant for you to be on their website?

Here’s a big bug-bearer of people who are reviewing your app. Number 3: Don’t make them pay. If you want a review in front of tens of thousands or millions of people, and some reviews can get into a magazine or on some big websites like TechCrunch and other sites like that, don’t make them pay. Provide them with the promo code, and if you’re not sure how to create a promo code Google “iOS promo code creation” or “Android promo code creation.” There’s plenty of resources already out there that will teach you how to do that. Create a promo code, let them use the promo code to rate and review your app.

Don’t make them pay for the app because if they hate the app and they’ve wasted their time and money, and bear in mind, if these people had to pay for every single app they reviewed they’d be spending thousands of dollars a day. They are not one of your customers, they’re reviewing your app for you. They might end up using and loving your app on the basis of your review: that’s different. Don’t make them pay.

Number 4: Include video with your app. Include promo videos, include other videos or social media that they can include into the app reviews. Obviously, if they’ve got videos on their website, video reviews, customers talking about it, or just some enticement or promo videos on their site or in their reviews, it make their reviews even better. They may not create a video review, you need to do that, and you need to integrate it and provide them with all the links. Put the video up on Youtube or Vimeo so it’s really easy for them to actually get that video and use it. Don’t make it hard for them.

Number 5: Make sure your app is ready. They can’t review an app that doesn’t exist yet. They can’t review an app that’s full of bugs and problematic. Your app’s got to be working. The worst thing you want to do is do all this work, send them the app, it’s buggy, and they’re using the app and it crashes. You might actually get a bad review – is that what you want? If you’re getting your app reviews it needs to work and it needs to be fun. It can’t be crashing, it can’t have issues. So test, test, test, and test again. Put it into the app store, make sure it’s published and approved, you’ve got a few downloads, and all the flaws are out of it – then you can get your app reviewed.

So there’s really a few ways to get your app reviews and there’s five tips on how to get your app reviewed and making it easy for those people.

One of the other tools that I was actually able to create, and I created it because of the volume of apps that we’re doing, is we actually created a tool that will help us submit all of our apps to hundreds of app review sites in under five minutes. It makes it really easy for us. You fill out the form details on the service I created, complete it, you provide links to the videos, you provide the descriptions, you provide some images, and it contacts and submits all the fields on these app review websites.

Imagine in five minutes you doing the work of submitting your app to over 200 websites. That’s what we’ve got; that’s one of the tools that I have that we use. I’ve actually made that tool publicly available and that’s called the App Submitter. Check out the website HowToMakeMillionsWithApps.com and check out the tool App Submitter. That may actually help you save a lot of time and money and help you get app reviews.

If it took you, let’s say, ten minutes to submit one app to one review site, be it in an email or going and filling in the form, and copying and pasting, and you wanted to submit it to the top 78 services. That’s 78 by 10 – what is that? Do you want to spend that much time or do you want to do that in the click of a button and it’s done for you? You choose. You can use the App Submitter, you could get a virtual assistant and pay the same amount of money for a virtual assistant, or you could sit there and do it all yourself, choose to do two app submission processes a night and you just do it for a few weeks or a few months or however long it takes you.

I highly, highly recommend app reviews because they’re organic traffic short-term and long-term they can be very, very beneficial. This is Ben Bressington. Hopefully this was a great tip and something to help you get thinking about how you can market and promote your app. Please put your comments below, put your feedback, give us your ideas, and tell us what you’re doing to get your app reviewed and what’s working for you because here we’re creating the ultimate community for app publishers and how we can all make more money with our apps.

~*~

Additionally, consider bunching up your publicity opportunity in order to maximize the chances of your app ranking in the top 100.

4. Unique Postage
Consider using custom postage stamps, such as your application’s icon design, on all mailings.

20. Online Networks
In points 14 and 15 you made it so that your customers can use online social networking, but you should also be using it yourself. Promote your own product through networks like Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, and LInkedIn.

21. Search Directories
It can be very important to get listed in online directories such as DMOZ, which powers the most popular search engines on the internet.

Facebook isn’t just for individuals; you can also make it so that customers can be fans of your product. Let them speak their support!

24. Two Versions of the App
If you can, create two versions of your application: a trail version and a paid version. This way people can get a taste of your app without having to download the whole thing. Just make it tantalizing enough so that they will want the full application.

25. Optimize Search Engine Rankings
Do not be afraid to use Google Adwords keyword tool in order to improve the chances of customers finding your webpage.

26. Professional Email
If you want people to take your business seriously you need to make sure your email address is professional sounding. Also add a organization signature at the bottom of each email that gives your recipient the information necessary to respond.

27. New Website
Make a new website to show off your app. Be sure to include screenshots that demonstrate the features and benefits of your app. Also, be sure to include a “Available in the iPhone App Store” button to make customers able to easily purchase your app.

28. Create a Mailing List
Set up a monthly newsletter that sends information to your customers and prospects.

29. Video Campaign
Set up a YouTube account and upload videos of your application in action. Again, don’t forget to include links to make it easy for people to download your app.

30. Ad-Sponsored Applications
Connect with AdMOb Download Exchange, which will let new users discover your app from within hundreds of other ad-supported applications.

31. LinkedIn
You may never heard of LinkedIn, but it can be an incredibly effective tool for linking with potential customers. It is essentially a social network for professionals and you can use it to link people interested in your company to your website, Twitter, or YouTube page.

32. Use Forums
Forums are a common place for people to meet online and post questions and discussions. It can be beneficial for you to participate in relevant forums and plug your app when appropriate.

33. Paid Marketing
It can sometimes be beneficial to use paid advertising through Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Marketing, or Live Search. This can help potential customers reach your website where they can then learn more about the benefits of your app.

34. Use Current Resources
If you company already has in place sell sheets and PowerPoint presentations, you should update them to include information about your new application.

35. Direct (Snail) Mail
If your company already sends mail directly to customers and prospective customers, consider updating these mails to include information about your application. Also, remember to use Consumers lists to help filter potentials by geography, home value, age, wealth, hobbies, religion, and ethnicity. This information can help you better target consumers.

36. Promotional Goods
Consider using branded items such as T-Shirts, mugs, cards, pens, etcetera to help promote your company and app.

37. Talk About Your App
Do not underestimate how important Word-of-Mouth support can be to promoting your application. Make sure you tell your friends, relatives, and colleagues about your application and ask them to tell their friends about the app.

38. Professional Phones
This is similar to point 26. You want to make sure that if customers call your company you have things in place like voice mail and on-hold messaging to make sure they understand you are selling a quality product. Also, consider changing your on-hold message to include information about the new application.

39. Design and Utilize Banners
Banners including information about your application can be used to promote your app at a given trade show or even within your establishment.

40. Text-Messaging
More and more people are no longer even using the telephone feature of their phones and are simply using SMS text messaging. Consider utilizing a targeted text-message campaign to promote your app.

41. Digg
Submitting an article or video regarding your app to Digg.com will appear in “Upcoming Stories” where members can easily find it and spread the word of your app if they like it. If enough people ‘digg’ your app, it will move to the homepage thus further promoting your app.

42. Free Classifieds
It can be advantageous to promote your application through free classifieds like Craigslist or even the PennySaver.

43. Party!
No, not a crazy booze filled night of debauchery (though it could be if you wanted). Rather, I am talking about an app launch party that invites friends, associates, customers and prospects. Consider including a cake that has a picture of your app icon on it to push promotion.

44. Design Images
Use your Icon to make wallpapers and backgrounds for people to use on their online networks and on various web pages.

45. Shipping and Wrapping Paper
Consider making customer shipping and wrapping paper that are decorated with your app icon. Use this when shipping products or when wrapping party favors at your launch party.

46. Candy!
People love candy. You can capitalize on this by making promotional cell phone shaped mint tins with your app information on it.

47. Auto-Response
Update your company auto-response email to include promotional information about your new app.

48. Location-Based Social Media
Integrate into your app the ability to use social media apps that reveal people nearby with similar interests or who are also using your application. One such app is called Loopt.

49. Image Projection
Image projection, yes using light to project your image against an indoor our outdoor wall, can be incredibly effective as it is huge and very visible for everyone to see.

50. Update Company Directories
If you have a large number of company employees and surrogates, make sure to send out an email updating them on the application.

50 Fun Ways to Market Your App

~*~

So here’s 50 ways that you can increase the visibility of your app and get some great marketing exposure because you’ve created an app, now you want to get visibility, you want to get marketing, you want to get downloads of your apps and that’s what matters. When you start getting downloads you can start increasing the revenue that your app makes.

So here’s a short list of 50 ways you can do it. Some of them sound crazy, some of them may sound simple but think of it – How can you actually use them in your marketing and in what you’re doing? How can you make it unique? So let’s run through this list quickly and 50 ideas, see what’s going to work for you.

1. The Top 100 – What can get your app to the Top 100? And you might start thinking, “Well, look, what I know right now is that getting into the US Top 100, Top 25, Top 10 charts is good, but it’s a very expensive marketing campaign if you’re doing offer walls, incentivize, downloads, if you’re buying banner impressions. It can be very expensive to get in there, but if you get into countries like Germany or Australia or the United Kingdom that have a lot of influence in what happens in the US, it’s much, much cheaper. Something worth checking out.

2. The other one is get your app reviewed. Get publicity and exposure on app review sites. See if you can get in magazines and newspapers or even on TV. Every morning there’s people talking about apps on radio and on TV.

3. Establish some type of public relations – You can submit press releases online. Wrap your press releases and media around something. So around a story or around a topic – tips for kids or education or business travelers or stay-at-home mums. Wrap it around an emotional story that is news-worthy. So all the traditional things that apply to marketing and PR marketing apply to doing a press release. You can do press releases online and offline. So there’s plenty on that – I’m sure we could talk about this for ages.

4. Here’s something that some people have done well is they’ve used unique postage stamps and given them to companies and other people for free to use their postage stamps of their app or they’ve used them in promotional purposes. So think outside the box. Think about, “What could I do to build a brand and create an identity and create something that engages people?” And postage stamps, beer coasters – you’ll be amazed at what you can use.

5. Promotional ads with other applications – You can use promotional ads, be it images or videos, with other applications. There’s already people who are marketing to your marketplace that you can jump on the back of and partner with.

6. The AddThis button is a great social media button that you can actually integrate into your apps for people to share either your websites or share your app – they can share it on Facebook, share it on Twitter. This does drive traffic. You’ve got to make it rewarding and engaging and worth sharing. There’s a few great apps like Temple Run now that are rewarding people to share to Facebook or to Tweet, so you might want to incorporate a reward mechanism with your app if people share it.

7. Target your advertizing – This is so important. Not everyone with an iPad or an iPhone or an Android device is going to download your app. Who are the people who are going to download your app? Who would want to download your app? Find that out and only market directly to them. The more you can filter out and segment your list the better it’s going to be for you.

8. Promote your application with current customers – So there’s already people who have downloaded similar apps that you can cross-promote with or they’ve got apps or software or something offline or online. How can you jump into that pool?

[9. Participate in Question and Answer Forums.]

10. Marketing via email – Email marketing still works. Yes, the deliverability and read rates are much lower than they used to be, but you can still do targeted media buyers and media lists to email marketing, and create a fun campaign that’s going to be engaging and give people a reason to click.

11. Strategic pricing – You might have a strategy to actually create a premium product or you might go into the Marketplace and sell it at $0.99 and then drop the price for a weekend or a week or a special. That will cause a influx of downloads and there’s multiple ways that impacts it. We’ll come back to that in another video.

12. Make a presentation – That’s right, you can create presentations and PDFs and videos that you can syndicate online so people searching for similar apps or your type of app topic, your app can show up therefore causing downloads. This media really helps.

Let’s run through some of these really quick.

13. Launch sponsorship.

14. Integrate sharing tools, social media, rewards sharing.

15. Integrate Twitter.

16. Exclusive content – Give people bonuses like wallpapers, videos, music, ringtones. These things are easy to create; this exclusive content really helps.

17. Mobile barcoding – QR codes work. See how you can use it.

18. Update your app every 2-3 weeks at least – This is very important. Push something great, push new content, push new in-app purchases, push a whole heap of good quality content. Plus fix the bugs and the issues with your apps – this will let your community know and the people that are currently downloading your app know that you’re actually improving it. They see version numbers are changing and you’ve posted fix notices, they’ll support you.

19. Collaborate with others – Very, very important. Mastermind with other app developers. Collaborate with your audience on Facebook, Twitter. Get out there and start talking.

20. Online networks – We all get invited to a different social media network or friend network every single day in our inbox. Start using that. Who could you network and promote with?

21. Search directories – There are so many ways that people search for apps online and just search for content. Make sure your stuff’s listed. The traditional SEO matters.

22. Use your blog.

23. Facebook fans.

24. Two versions of the app – Create a free version and a paid version. The free version will be downloaded ten times more than a paid version.

[25. Optimize Search Engine Rankings.]

So if these aren’t giving you any ideas and a whole task list of work to do, you’re not paying attention and you’re not really thinking.

26. Professional email – Take this seriously. Yes, you can use your Gmail account but also have professional emails, have it branded. Don’t have the email when you’re doing promotional marketing coming from sexdude51 or drinksonthebeach@gmail.com; people won’t take you seriously. At least have some credibility. Make this a business.

27. A new website.

28. Create a mailing list – Always have a subscribe, a register button, or you can create lists now on Facebook or Twitter. Create a list so you can communicate with people when you want.

29. Video campaign – My favorite. Video is over 50% of all search content and this is where people are going, this is what the trends are. Create videos, simple videos, raw videos, promo videos, do video marketing. And I’m sure we’ll do a video just on, “What the hell is video marketing?”

30. Ad-sponsored applications – AdMob and other ad networks will allow you to run sponsorship campaigns. There’s Free App a Day campaigns. So many ways you can get sponsorship in other apps or on websites, on forums, just keeps going.

31. LinkedIn

32. Forums – Forums are massive. There’s people there talking and engaging and then there’s more people coming and reading what these people are talking and engaging about. So have your ads there, have your content there, get in that conversation. People are already talking, so get in the conversation.

[33. Paid Marketing.]

34. Use current resources – If you have existing [cell sheets] or resources, use them, provide them with people, let other people use them to share your apps and about your business and your story. Create stuff about you and your developer story.

35. Direct snail mail – Direct mail works and actually has a very high conversion rate in comparison to email; it’s actually better than email nowadays, and we don’t actually get much direct mail anymore. There are ways you can use it. There are people you can target by running this promotional campaign. The ad costs a little bit more and it’s not as instant as an email, but it can get some great exposure.

36. Promotional goods – What novelties, T-shirts, mugs, pens, cards, et cetera can you actually create to use in promotion or have other people give away for you.

37. Always be talking about your app – Tell everyone, share it, let people download it, play it, have demo devices that people can engage with. It’s going to work in your favor. Here’s a tip – video those people using your promotional stuff, talking about your stuff; they’ll get other people wanting to be using your app.

38. Professional phones – This is similar to point 26. If you allow customers to actually call your office and talk to somebody, and some people say, “Yes, do this,” and some people say, “No, don’t do this,” but I like to have the professional approach and I like to talk to people on the phone. Because it could be media people calling me on the phone or calling my office on the phone, it could be customers who have got an issue or got a problem or giving us great feedback. So set up a professional phone service and it could be as simple as using Skype. Skype is great or there are some other services like RingCentral so you don’t have to have a phone – you could be in the coffee shop or have the calls forwarded to your mobile or cell phone and you can answer it anywhere in the world. There’s great services, but if you’re going to provide it, let people talk and connect with you.

39. Design and utilize banners – Banners are big. So different banner graphics and make sure you have them animated and static options, but there’s plenty of tips we can talk about later in another video on that one as well.

40. Text messaging.

41. Using Digg.

42. Using free classifieds – This is another search engine optimization strategy. All the classified websites out there; there is hundreds of thousands of them that provide the links and people are there like Kijiji or in the US Craigslist or you might even want to put stuff on eBay or you might want to see even what you can post on Amazon if you’re getting merchandise. It helps people get exposure.

43. Party – Throw a party at app marketing events or Game Developers Conference or Inside Social Apps or Facebook Conferences. Every big company nowadays has conferences and events, and you’ll be quite surprised that you can actually go to these events and they’re looking for someone to sponsor just the alcohol or food component and therefore you contribute to the party with the gaming audience or a utilities audience who want to download it. If you’re targeting doctors and medical professionals, go to those type of conferences, sponsor the bar or sponsor something, get talking, have a few promotional stuff there – you’ll be amazed at what happens.

[44. Design images.]

[45. Shipping and wrapping paper.]

46. Candy – People love candy. There’s great ways you can get your logo, your brand, your image put onto candy be it chocolate or in the wrappers and stuff you can send to people as a gift, use at conferences and events, be it just mints even if you want to really cheap out and go those really nasty mints you have at events, you can do that. People love promotional freebies and let them entice it. If you’re going to be using them, see if you can put a QR code or something on there so people can scan the box or the wrapper and download your app. Great way to do it.

[47. Auto-response.]

[48. Location-based social media.]

[49. Image projection.]

50. Update company directories – So have your company/business information listed everywhere so people can find you and engage with you. And update all the directories to say these are your apps, these are the games you’ve got, these are the utilities you’ve got, and you’ll be amazed the people searching then go, “Wow! I didn’t realize they were doing this. I thought he was just doing this in his bedroom, now he’s got a big business.” Look bigger than you are and it can also help, or have a great story and it can also help.

So there’s our list of 50. We didn’t touch on all of them in detail and some of them we just skimmed through, but you should have at least a whole heap of ideas on how you can now get more marketing and exposure and visibility to your app. Yeah, some of them are going to cost a few dollars, some of them are free, some of them are time. What you need to work out now is where and how are you going to spend your time in creating marketing and exposure for your apps.

Easy Intro to App Marketing

Everyone is trying to capitalize on the iPhone app craze, and if you’re reading this you probably have already made (or are trying to make) the next big application. You realize that there is a huge amount of money to be made in this burgeoning business, but beyond posting your app in Apple’s store you may not know exactly what else you can do. Well, fear not, there is lots you can do to get your piece of the app store pie.

If your goal is to make more than just a little extra cash off your application idea, you need to start developing a marketing plan and a sales strategy for you application. For instance, what types of people are going to be interested in your app? How do you make sure that these people will easily understand the value of your application? How might you price the app to make sure it is competitive in the market? All of these are very important questions to ask your self.

Tips for Succesfully Marketing Your App

Marketing an iPhone application is very similar to marketing any other product. Indeed, you can divide it into a few simple steps: first develop a unique product that the customer needs; second, implement a marketing message that will attract potential customers; and lastly, keep creating new products and upgrading old products so you can build loyalty among existing customers. It is important to understand that marketing your app is a process that incorporates all of these aforementioned steps. Once you understand this you will be able to increase the sales of your iPhone application.

Because marketing is so important to the success of your application, I am going to go in depth over four important steps for marketing your application.

4 Steps for Marketing Your App

Step 1: Unique Product
You have already come up with the application idea, you realize that there is a market out there, now it’s time for you understand why your idea is different from the thousands of other applications. Why does someone want your application over someone else’s? To answer this question, ask yourself the following three question:

First, what is unique about your product? Is it the graphics? The sound effects? The networking capabilities? Make a list of these benefits and your on your way to better understanding and thus marketing your product. Second, what type of person is going to buy your application? Are you targeting the gym rat or the business man? The video gamer or the armature chef? Knowing who your audience is will help you target your application appropriately. Finally, what type of competition is your app facing? By understanding your competition you can better differentiate yourself and improve your application chances of success.

Step 2: Deliver Your Specialized Message
The demand for you application is likely already there, so now it is just important to make sure that people are aware of your application. The way you make sure they are aware is by creating a message that connects with them and makes them notice you.

There are many ways to get your audience to recognize your application. You should start by drafting an in-depth descriptions that concisely though powerfully explains your app to your customer. You should then make sure that you get a professional, high-quality screenshot of your app in action. Remember, you are trying to showcase your application to your customers; you need to make it easy for them to see, understand, and purchase your product.

Also, do not forget about social media marketing, as it can be a powerful tool for spreading the word about your application. If people are talking about your app, you are getting free advertising. You should facilitate this type of marketing by developing a Facebook, Twitter, or Myspace page for the app.

Step 3: How Much?
The price at which you set your application is one of the most important factors that will dictate the success or failure of your app. It used to be that pricing an app at $.99 was a sure way to get noticed, but with the influx of thousands of application this strategy has become more and more difficult.

An alternative approach is to study your competition and understand the rate at which they are selling their apps. If your application has better and more sophisticated features, consider pricing your app at a slightly higher rate than the competition. This approach can give you financial room to support your app with discounts and other special promotions. Remember, cheap isn’t always better. Indeed, people will happily pay for quality.

Step 4: Implement the Plan
Once you understand your own product, your competitor’s product, and your target audience, you are ready to implement your marketing plan. This plan does not have to be lengthy and costly, but it does need to outline exactly how you will reach your target audience. That is to say, your marketing plan must include an easy to understand message, outline of your defined customer, promotional materials (including reviews, promotions, and press releases), so that you have a map for success for your application.
Whether you have already completed your application or have yet to even start programming, it is never to late or early to think about how you are going to market your application. Doing so just might make sure your application marketing starts bringing in the big bucks.

Let’s face it, you need to get that app some attention for it to

be a success!

One of the most important tasks one must accomplish is not simply getting your app into the store, but in getting people to notice it. Here are six easy tips to getting your application noticed.
1. Use Twitter: Twitter can be an incredibly useful tool for getting your app noticed. It allows you to connect with your customers as well as for them to connect with you. Moreover, people with Twitter accounts are inherently tech savvy and are likely users of smart phones.

When using Twitter, make sure to remember that this is a business tool, not a personal news feed. That is, make sure you are connecting with your followers, but not bombarding them with useless information. Doing so will help you remain in contact with your current followers as well as attract new ones.

Finally, because Twitter is an acceptable and widely used social network it may be worthwhile to integrate Twitter into your application. This will allow users to essentially advertise for you and help your app get noticed.
2. Don’t Forget About the Forums: Online forums can be a great place to get your application noticed. This is because developers as well as iPhone users often use forums. By personally connecting with these types of individuals, you are able to create loyalty to your product which can be hightly valued. Indeed, forum users who enjoy are loyal to your application can provide you and your application with free viral advertising.

Check out websites like Touch Arcade and iPhone Dev SDK for useful and heavily used online app forums on.

3. Spread the Word: You may not have any experience in promotion, and that is okay. However, it is very important that you find someone who has some skills in advertising and networking. You can either use someone independently or outsource to a company like Appular, which can find ways to promote your application. Make sure you start early though, as advertisers need time to spread the word through various channels of blogs, journalists, and editors.

4. Secure a Creative Screenshots: People judge books by there cover, it is just a simple fact. Accordingly, they also will judge your application by the screenshot. A creative and high quality screenshot allows your users to know what your product is as well as to let them envisions what it is like to use your product. Moreover, by getting the screenshot out there early, you have easy advertising and promotion for getting your application noticed.

5. Think About What Makes Your App Desirable: This tip is incredibly important because it is what makes your application unique. You designed the app, now you need to identify why people should want to use it over the thousands of other applications. Then widely tout this feature and make it known through the various channels we have already discussed. Try to make it so that as soon as someone sees or reads about your application, they immediately understand why it exists and why they should want it.

6. Listen and Respond to Feedback: One final way to make sure that your application gets noticed is by responding to feedback and updating your application. By making the app better, both users and review websites will take notice. This provides you with more advertising as well as the benefit of having a more desirable app.

For example, check out application in the iPhone store and note how often they are updated. This is because they are striving or relevance and to remain noteworthy. You need to do the same with your app.

These are few simple tips that you can use to get your application noticed. Don’t worry if you are unable to implement them all, however they can all be very useful on the road towards making your app successful.

Do really understand the App Store Eco-System?

Apps stores are an eco-system to themselves constantly evolving and each platforms marketplace is different from the other. The differences in app marketplaces can be vast from differences in user behaviors to how you need to optimize your app within the app store. The app market is also extremely segmented, that there are different apps stores are now available for different mobile apps OS platforms with the android platform having multiple marketplaces.

How To Understand The App Store?

One of the best things that you can do prior to launch or after launch of your app is to spend time in your app stores and look at what displays, why and how, work out the categories and conduct keyword searches and assess the results.

Which apps are always displaying and why?

What can you copy from the app description or keywords, or game titles?

Are their keywords in the app name or how are the app screen shots used to sell the app?

There are many things that you need to understand about your store eco-system before you can optimize your app to receive more downloads.

Just because you have completed the development phase for your app does not mean your app will get the downloads it needs to be a success. There are multiple elements from marketing factors included into the design and build of the app and promotional strategies that can be used to get your app to the Top 25 Download Charts. Most developers fail to get the fundamentals of the app correct and wonder why their apps fail to attract downloads or revenues.

It is always recommended to have a complete research on the apps market before anyone getting involved with it. All the ground works should have done before launching apps in the market. Hundreds and thousands of apps in many different categories are now already in the showcases of different apps market. Yet, more apps are waiting to come, as the consumers are looking forward to have more and more usability through their smart phones. Again, apps of any existing type can also become a good choice if someone can find and add more features within those apps.

How To Assess The App Store

If you take 15 -30mins each day an assess the app store top 50 or the top crossing apps in the app store you will really start to see what is working for apps. If I could suggest one thing study the top grossing apps in the app store at least twice a week…. because these are the apps that are making money either from download purchase or in app purchase (IAP) is this not what you want to do?

Actually take the time and download some of the top grossing apps and study them … dissect them and see how the IAP are working, how are ads running, how are gamification elements being used?

Tip: Just do not do this in the Apple IOS App Store also check out the Amazon Market place that is an App Store too and you will soon see that in 2012 and over the next few year that the Amazon App Stores really start to become profitable and serious contender to the Apple IOS App Stores. An app store that many people do not even think about checking is the Amazon Kindle app store market place, this is really early mover ground but if you are serious about making a living from this you will want to check them out at least once a week. Create a note pad document that you can take notes, write down ideas or load screen shots into … you will thank me later when ideas are really racing…

If you do this you will see how others are spending time and money on their apps in the app store and you will understand what is working now and how you too can capitalize on it.

So you now have an iPhone App but how to do market it? So here are some tools and resources you can use to market and promote your apps so you can increase your downloads…

Mobile marketing solution

We are all well aware about what marketing is and how it works. In short marketing is a link between the organization and the audience. Marketing makes the transaction possible between the organization and the consumer. People are educated about the product and service available in the market today through marketing and if no marketing exists then the work is just halfway done. If your work on a product is not done fully then you will not be able to complete your managerial goals. So the whole circle is connected and marketing plays a vital role in this.

Mobile Marketing-The New Way to Market to a Targeted Audience

Organizations have been looking out for new ways of marketing through which they can reach their customers or general audience easily and effectively and it seems they have found one; that is the mobile marketing solution. Mobile marketing is the new way through which marketing is done today. This marketing solution can be used for small groups as well as for a larger audience.

You must be wondering how this works, let me explain it to you it is very simple we all use mobile phones and we carry them everywhere we go; now marketing analysts have discovered the strategy of sending a message on a mobile so that businesses can send their mobile marketing message quickly and easily. It is very obvious to consumers that they have received a text message and must look at it once it pops up in their phone as a new message thus fufilling the consumer side of the mobile marketing strategy. This is the newest form of marketing in today’s time. It is almost fool-proof since a person can miss out on the television advertisement but they will never miss out on the text on their phone.

Mobile Marketing-Cost Effective?

The Mobile Marketing solution is very cost efficient; the cost of messages is very nominal and when you are doing it through some company they give concessions and there are many options also available at a very cheap price for mobile marketing. Using mobile marketing you can always find out what is happening in the market and through this you can send promotional offers as well. Mobile Marketing is simple easy and very effective.

Mobile marketing service

Marketing is basically grabbing people attention so that people get to know that there is something new in the market and also to spread awareness among people that something like your product exists in today’s market. Organizations keeps looking for new ways of marketing as this is something which is a very important aspect. Marketing in today’s world is very important factor in the selling process of your product. Marketing directly affects the sale of the product or service. If the product or service is marketed in an attractive way it will attract more and more customers and not just will it help you retain current customers it will also help to gain new customers. Thus marketing your product is very important.

Mobile Marketing & Your Business

All current marketing forms are effective to a certain extent. For example a TV advertisement can be very effective but there is always the option to change the channel; so in this way the purpose of marketing is not fully accomplished. Now with the new form of marketing: Mobile Marketing, we can reach the customers in a way that they cannot ignore through the mobile marketing service.

Mobile marketing is a brand new form of marketing where a message or a promotional message is sent to the audience or targeted audience on their cell phone via text. So when the message is sent to the consumers cell phone it will be received and opened and it allows the consumer to see the advertisement immediately and that way you can grab your customer’s attention and your purpose of marketing is fulfilled.

Effective Mobile Marketing

Mobile marketing is very effective as it reaches each and every person and it is a very cost efficient and attractive way of marketing.
